Winner receives a Lake Tahoe Women Wellness Weekend for two, Nov. 8 and 9

Contest ends Oct. 30, winner announced Oct. 31

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. — Holy moly, two is better than one, right?

Shawna West of Granlibakken Resort has graciously upped the ante for the “Beat the Blues” Facebook contest.

“The party’s always better in pairs,” said West of the fabulous Beat the Blues contest, sponsored by the Sierra Sun and Granlibakken. “It’s an amazing community event, with health information and inspiration.”

Tell us how you “Beat the Blues,” and you may be the lucky winner of a trip for two, including one night’s lodging, to the long-loved Women’s Wellness Weekend.

BE THE LUCKY WINNER

Simply upload your favorite way to beat the onset of winter blues to the Sierra Sun’s Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/sierrasun1, including a high resolution image. The entry with the most “likes” will win a Lake Tahoe Women’s Wellness Weekend for two.

The winning prize includes two people for two event entries, and one night lodging at double occupancy, for a total dollar value of $384. Enjoy a full hot buffet breakfast on Sunday, Saturday and Sunday lunch, an incredible Saturday evening shopping event with local artisans and the ever popular Health Fair on Sunday. YouTube video links of your personal beat the blues tip get an automatic extra 20 likes!

Tips can be anything from a walk in the woods, meditation, yoga, gazing at Aspens, canning fruits and vegetables, or simply curling up by the fire with a hot cup of tea and a good book. Describe what your tip is in 100-150 words, upload that high resolution image (Sun staff favorites will be published in the print edition) and get your friends and family to “like” your tip.

The contest ends Oct. 30, with the winner announced Oct. 31.

IT’S GENERATIONAL

“Mothers bring daughters, sisters bring sisters, best friends bring best friends … and many make new friends,” said West of the inter-generational weekend.

The event fuses Western practices with Eastern philosophy to offer a balanced weekend of information, inspiration, activities, food and wine. A few speaker highlights include “Ugly Ducklings” by Kim Bateman, PhD; “Harmful or Helpful: 5 Tips for Fitness Success” by Wendy Buchanan, MS; “Your Brain & You: Aging Happily Together” by Suzanne Aberasturi; and “Topics in Nutrition We Weren’t Thinking About in 1999” by Jill Whisler, MS, RD.

Master of Ceremonies Tim Schroeder is a chiropractor who feels living a balanced life enables you to reach your greatest potential. He has extensive training in the analysis of personal interests, attitudes and values and maintains a passion as a fifth degree black belt and certified master instructor in the art of Tang Soo Do Karate.

In addition to the wealth of health information and activities, Granlibakken Resort offers an on site pool, hot tub, sauna, day spa and hiking trails.

The event starts on Saturday with an optional yoga class (7 a.m.) and ends with a Zumba Party (4 p.m.) on Sunday.
